Big Game James 2.0 – Lakers(Land) LBJ
Previously by this blog the Lakers were probably going to flame out in free agency. With a move that many expected but few didn’t believe was likely LeBron James indeed did take his talents to Los Angeles. It remains to be seen how this will impact the Western Conference. But clearly creates a vacuum of power in the Eastern Conference with the Celtics and potentially the 76ers poised to battle for the top spot as the Raptors wonder if they should stand pat or forge ahead with a rebuild.
LBJ is still considered the best player on the planet. But as recent history will show. Having LeBron on your team doesn’t necessarily guarantee a championship. Bragging rights to having the best player on your roster and deep playoff runs that ultimately flame out to better constructed teams can only provide so much bluster.
This really only puts more pressure on on the smooth talking Magic Johnson to make the Lakers a Championship contender as the acquisition of LeBron is more or less a Championship or Bust move. There will likely be some casualties in the young talent department in not only roster spots but in development as well as LBJ will eat a gang of minutes at SF, PF and often times be the primary ball-handler.
As it stands right now the team looks a little disjointed with Ingram, Kuzma and LeBron all primarily SF’s so it remains to be seen how this roster will ultimately look down the line.
It also stands to reason that with this move the Lakers have made seemingly the first move in the Arms Race to over throw Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors.
